How Enterprise Video Can Improve Internal Communications

The popularity of videos is growing rapidly throughout the business world. Companies are finding that videos can be used not only as a tool for customers but for employees as well. It has been argued that using videos internally can help improve business when utilized correctly. Forrester’s Phil Karcher provides a report which looks at the growing trend of enterprise video and the success it can bring a company.

As described by Forrester, enterprise video” is video used internally to engage and inform employees in corporate communication and training content.

Training New Employees

One way enterprise video can be a helpful tool is when new employees need to be trained for their position. Videos allow them to see first hand what will be expected of them on the job. Corporate trainers can also use enterprise video to understand how a new employee would react in a real-life situation and provide immediate feedback, showing them exactly where they might have done things differently.

Keeping Employees Up-To-Date

Enterprise video isn’t only useful for training new employees; it can be used to stay in touch with all employees. For example, if members of the board or executive team are holding a big meeting, it could be helpful to send out a quick video clip highlighting an important question or topic that was addressed during the meeting. By sending out a video clip, companies can educate non-attendees on topics or decisions they want to share. This type of engagement can make employees feel included and more satisfied with their job.

When initially incorporating enterprise video into your company’s communication strategy, Forrester recommends outsourcing webcasting and video production to an AV company or bringing in experts from the outside to help develop the video service.

Embracing enterprise video may take time and resources, but this medium can provide positive results. When used correctly, enterprise video has the ability to make a significant impact on your company’s internal communications.
