Enterprise mobility. Mobile enablement. Enterprise-level mobile apps.

These buzzwords are indicative of what Forrester calls the mobile mind shift, and for good reason. That being said, when trying to conceptualize what this shift means in your company’s ecosystem, how to integrate these concepts into your strategy and how to leverage them appropriately – it can be overwhelming. It’s very difficult to know where to start.

Do not fear, you have the ability to be an enterprise mobility pioneer! Better yet, the burden does not need to be placed squarely on your shoulders. By approaching enterprise mobility as a true enterprise software initiative, it becomes clear that it’s necessary to assemble a cross functional team (i.e. IT, Marketing, Sales Ops).

Every journey starts with the first step.

Do Your Research

The key drivers behind rolling out an enterprise mobility platform are becoming more compelling and there are constantly new companies popping up in the competitive landscape. You can find a multitude of application providers using a simple Google search. This is great for you. You have a market that is steadily growing, giving you options.

The key is to understand that there are core differences between an enterprise grade mobile platform and a “one off” mobile app. Make sure that your potential mobile partner enables the core elements that will make or break your mobile enablement strategy. Does the platform hit on all of the following?

For example, here at Mediafly, our apps are built on an enterprise mobile platform that is complete, can integrate with your systems and comes with innovation included. Because our engagement philosophy is centered on providing mobile apps as a service (MAaaS), the entire user base benefits from each new product innovation. You can choose to use the out of the box solution or overlap a custom interface that supports process methodology and/or addressed barriers to full adoption.

As you look at the various companies out there, you’ll learn what is critical for you. The thing to remember is that it doesn’t have to be as daunting a task as it seems. Stay focused on finding an enterprise mobility partner that will enhance your core functions with mobile first in mind.

What are you looking for in an enterprise mobility app? What functions are most important for your workforce to complete on the go?
