GDPR law goes into effect on May 25, 2018. Mediafly is prepared for the changes and has taken action to further protect our customers’ data and comply with requests for privacy. Mediafly is committed to implementing policies that ensure data will be protected and align with industry standards.

What is the GDPR?

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is a regulation in the European Union (EU) on data protection for all individuals. It addresses the export of personal data outside the EU. The main goal of the GDPR is to give EU citizens control over their own personal data, including the right for their data to be forgotten. The GDPR was adopted on April 26, 2016, and becomes enforceable on May 25, 2018. This law replaces the 1995 Data Protection Directive.

How is Mediafly complying with the GDPR?
Mediafly is updating our Privacy Policies to comply with GDPR requirements. All data collected by Mediafly is safely protected by industry-standard best practices, including encryption methods, limiting access to data, and using DRM technology where applicable. Mediafly’s application is also being updated to both store and process EU citizen data inside a local data center in Frankfurt, Germany.
