This past weekend I decided to clean up my apartment. To be honest, it probably needed to be done three weeks ago. But I mean Breaking Bad isn’t going to catch up on itself, right? I finally set my mind to cleaning up. When finished, I felt accomplished and I could finally see my floor again.

Then on Sunday morning when I was trying to leave to meet friends for brunch, I couldn’t find my wallet, or keys, or anything for that matter. The sad thing is that I couldn’t find anything because it was in the place it’s supposed to be. Not tossed in a pile somewhere. I had to get used to finding my stuff in a new place. Which, come Monday, made my morning a lot smoother and me not acting like the rabbit from Alice in Wonderland.

App Integration

When looking at how an app is going to play into your current workflow situation, think of it like cleaning up your apartment. You have all these things in all these different piles. Sure you know the piles like the back of your hand, but it still involves a lot of lost time and lost content. The app acts as an easy to use place to store all of your stuff.

The real key to unlocking these highly touted efficiency and productivity gains is letting your employees make these apps their own. If you give them the content and accessibility then they can take it and customize their own workflows within the app. This is the real end goal of the app. You give them the framework and within it, they can pinpoint the functions they need the most and utilize it to the best of their ability.  This is the essence of mobile app management.

Simplicity, Simplicity, Simplicity

The main thing to consider when managing your enterprise app workflows is to make sure they’re simple. Sometimes when looking at apps we tend to think more add-ons or features equals better. That’s not always the case. In fact, many times all those features will get in the way of doing your job.

REMEMBER: You want the app to match your current workflow and processes, just in a cleaner and more concise way.

Security

This one is always a must when it comes to tech management. Making sure that your app can be remotely wiped and permissions set for content is a standard. Make sure that the security of your application is thorough and comprehensive.

By giving your workforce the tools to more directly customize their own workflows, you’re indirectly creating an environment that puts the onus on them to innovate for themselves.  This strategy effectively lets organizations make the most of mobile app management.
