Jimmy Kimmel Live - The Official JKL App wins a Webby Award, 2012
Since 1996, The Webby Awards have recognized the best of the internet throughout its extensive growth in the last few decades. Focusing on Website, Interactive Advertising & Media, Online Film & Video, and Mobile & App categories, the awards are given to those with a groundbreaking effect on the world wide web.
The official Jimmy Kimmel Live app, which was built on Mediafly’s platform, received a Webby Honoree nod. Rich with content, the app allows fans to interact through their internet connected TVs, smartphones, and tablets to stay connected and stay laughing. Sprint 4G App Challenge
As the first national wireless carrier in the United States to offer 4G service to its customers, Sprint (NYSE: S), with partners WIRED, Reddit and Ars Technica, today announced the winners of the Sprint 4G App Challenge. “We are excited to announce the winners of the Sprint 4G App Challenge,” said Todd Rowley, vice president of Sprint 4G. “These innovators developed applications that truly harness the fast Sprint 4G data speeds and enable consumers to do even more with their mobile phones.”
Submissions were in five categories – entertainment, gaming, productivity, social networking and multimedia. The apps were reviewed based on four criteria – creativity, intuitive navigation, functionality and design. The judges’ panel was composed of product and technology executives from Sprint, editors from WIRED and its partners at Reddit and Ars Technica. All the winning apps are available in the Android Market.
Prizes:
In addition to bragging rights, winners in each category took home a $50,000 grand prize, a choice of an HTC EVO™ 4G or Samsung Epic™ 4G with one year of Sprint service (includes applicable taxes and surcharges), a one-year membership to the Sprint Professional Developer Program (including 250 hours in the Virtual Developer Lab) and an invitation to WIRED’s VIP party during the 2011 International CES in Las Vegas.
Android Developer Challenge 2
The Android Developer Challenge 2 is an application contest put forth by Google in the fall of 2009. Developers submitted their apps to one of 10 specially-designated ADC 2 categories August 2009. Throughout September, Android users voted on their favorite apps across all categories. The result generated 20 applications in each of the ten categories as winners of the first round.
Mediafly submitted OnAir for this contest. After several weeks of voting, OnAir was one of the winners of the first round of voting. This qualified Mediafly in the top 5% of all apps submitted to the challenge.
2010 BlackBerry Partners Fund Super Apps Developer Challange - Regional Selection
OnAir for BlackBerry has been selected as a Regional Selection in the 2010 BlackBerry Partners Fund Super Apps Developer Challenge. With this, OnAir by Mediafly was given top placement in the BlackBerry App World Carousel.
Since its first beta release in September 2009, OnAir for BlackBerry is and continues to be one of the best free, cloud-based podcast applications. The app is distributed both through BlackBerry App World (search "onair") and direct through Mediafly today.
