Mediafly Image Asset Guidelines

Mediafly Image Asset Guidelines

This guide will give you everything you need to know about making your Mediafly application assets look just the way you want them to. Below are guidelines whether you’re designing the graphics package yourself or whether we’re putting it together for you. Please scroll down to the section that describes how your assets are being created. Refer to the images in each section for clarification.

Mediafly is creating the graphics for me.

Mediafly is more than happy to create graphics for bootscreens, banners, icons, etc provided you follow these simple guidelines.

Logo file types and sizes

Logos should be given in an .eps or .ai file. These are industry standard files that allow the art team to scale your logo to whatever would suit the design. If no .eps or .ai files are available, please include a .png file, preferably with a clear background, that is at least 1024x768. This will allow for nearly the same flexibility. If given anything smaller, like something taken from the web, the design may become limited or we may need to stretch your logo which will leave it blurry.

Guidelines for photos

Photos do a lot to enhance the look of your design but please provide appropriate sizes. If you want your photo(s) to be prominent in the design, they should be larger files. If you’re okay with many little photos displayed at once (tiled, in a line, etc) then it’s okay if they’re smaller. A good rule is the smallest should be 600x400 (.jpg, .png) depending on how prominent you want your photos to be.

I’m creating my own graphics package, start to finish.

If you choose to create your own graphics package, please follow these tips and tricks. These guidelines are assuming you have a list of the asset names and sizes already handy. If you would like to design these yourself and don’t have a list, feel free to request one through your Mediafly contact or email skljucaric@mediafly.com.

General guidelines

All images should be saved at .png unless noted.

Please avoid backgrounds that are overly busy on background images, these become distracting on certain devices when UI elements are placed on top.

  • Using a lot of text on the background image is generally not a good idea. When icons and UI elements get placed on top, it can become difficult to read.
  • Please avoid using super bright colors (bright yellow, green, and red especially) as the background color for all your assets. These can be distracting on some devices. When in doubt, use black or white.
  • On most topBanners the right most half of the banner should be kept blank, with a background that is easy to place black or white text on.
