Yes, you read that right—“billion” with a “B.”

While you may think that enterprise mobility has officially arrived, that might not be true for every industry sector. It’s clear that many businesses understand that mobility is a trend they can’t afford to ignore, but as Kevin Spain pointed out in a recent TechCrunch article, The Next Billion-Dollar Market Opportunity is Mobile Enterprise, it’s an area that is still considered “new” for certain industries like construction, healthcare, and manufacturing.

Mobility offers many benefits for businesses of all kinds—even those in rural locations around the world. If enterprise mobility takes hold in these underserved sectors, it is well on its way to becoming the next billion-dollar industry.

Spain references the following information that demonstrates how large the enterprise mobility market truly is:

He notes that many of those 2.5 billion workers are in industries with low IT spend, and a part of companies in the developing world. These statistics show immense possibilities that still remain for enterprise mobility.
With 2.5 billion workers not currently utilizing technology, at an estimated cost of $40 per worker to obtain mobile technology (or 10% of what is typically spent on a desk-bound worker today), Spain estimates that the industry could top $100 billion with the following calculation:

2.5 billion workers x $40 per worker = $100,000,000,000

As demonstrated above, when it comes to enterprise mobility, the opportunity seems endless. Mobile technology is dominating enterprises across the globe, with no signs of slowing down. We’ve even discussed the possibility of the enterprise becoming 100% mobile in a previous blog post. Now is the time for companies to recognize the vast opportunities that are available in the enterprise mobility industry.

Has your company adopted enterprise mobility solutions? Do you agree that it could become a billion dollar industry?
