Game fans are too busy playing with the NintendoDS to show interest in the PS3. Some software makers have suddenly decided to postpone the development of software for the PS3 because they are worried about the future of the game machine.

Yoshinoya D&C Co. Ltd. resumed selling beef bowls using U.S. beef on Oct. 1. The sale will last until Oct. 5. This is the second campaign after the Sep. 18. About 50 people queued for the bowls at Yoshinoya’s biggest outlet in Yurakucho, Tokyo. The line was, however, half as long as September.

KDDI Corp. will take over the fiber-optic communications business of Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. in Jan. 2007. KDDI is expected to pay over 100 billion yen for this deal. Both companies already announced the basic policy of integrating their optical communications business.

The Oil Information Center said the price of regular gasoline as of Sep. 25 was 143.8 yen per liter, down by 0.2 yen from a week ago. The prices marked the decrease for the second straight week, the center said on Sep. 28. Shop prices of high-octane gasoline and light oil are also getting lower.

Kyushu Railway Co., operating in southwestern Japan, will introduce prepaid rail pass cards with built-in IC chips beginning in spring of 2009. According to its announcement on Sep. 17, devices for the IC tickets will be installed at 111 stations in Fukuoka and Kitakyushu areas.
