Tea danceFrom Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This term (sometimes spelled T-dance) is also used within gay culture to designate similar dances: particularly those held on weekends (especially Sunday evenings) in night clubs, or at the end of the day at gay resorts (usually beside a pool). A live DJ typically plays recorded club music at these tea dances. It originated at the Blue Whale hotel/club/restaurant on Fire Island, NY, as a way to entice visitors to spend additional time (and money) before taking the Ferry back to the mainland to prepare for their workweek.

For the CSPC it is a way to provide a place and social event for gay men, who may not be of age to go to dances where alcohol is served, and for those men that want an alcohol and drug free social environment.

Seattle Sexplorations is a social club for singles and couples dedicated to sexually-oriented education and entertainment. We're different from any other club. You come to our events to make friends with a common interest in sex (but not to hook-up for sex).

Even the most conservative of our members can feel proud of their membership because simply having an interest in sex IS socially acceptable! Whether traditional or alternative, conservative or liberal, straight, gay or bi, our members believe it is okay to enjoy adult-oriented events. We bring people together who have a healthy interest in sex to make new friends and learn from each other in a safe, comfortable and socially interactive environment. We take you to the vendors and organizations devoted to sexuality you might otherwise not visit on your own and let you peek behind the curtain.

This week we chat with our friend Don over at Randyblue.com. We find out what happens behind the scenes and chat with our listeners LIVE!
On Randy Blue you'll find sweaty surfers with golden brown tans, muscled jocks, handsome hunks, and all sorts of beautiful men. I'm not satisfied with featuring one guy and then looking for clones to match his look. A Randy Blue model can be tall, short, muscular, lean, hairy or smooth, but they all possess a certain quality that makes them a Randy Blue model.

John and his longtime friend and ex - partner, Peter Fox, go back to biblical times. In those days, such scriptural characters as Methuselah lived to be, quite literally, thousands of years old. John, himself, is thousands of years old and Peter Fox is, in fact, Methuselah. Before they founded Fox & Fluevog, in the ancient biblical age of 1970, they were shepherds. Actually, they worked at Sheppard's, a venerable Vancouver shoe emporium, albeit a tad on the conventional side. As you can imagine, John and Peter felt a wee bit constrained, selling brogues all day to businessmen in suits and servicing only the occasional hipster. When, one day, the miraculous happened, it was followed by the inevitable: an old warehouse full of turn - of - the - century footwear (men's & women's, in mint condition, no less) became available to buy at one ridiculously low price. In a nanosecond, John and Peter were out the door and into their own store, fully stocked with brand new fifty year old shoes that, in 1969, were right in style. Fox & Fluevog immediately became the very coolest place to treat the feet and has remained so ever since. Around 1980, Peter heard the siren song of New York City and moved there to open his own store, specializing in design of Ladies' (particularly wedding) shoes. John took over the business and built it into the multinational mega corporation it is today, along the way forging his undaunted reputation for the world's most distinctive shoes.

Northern Xposure Weekend â affectionately dubbed âNX â by veteran attendees -- is a menâs social and fundraising event that takes place in Seattle each August. Produced by Rich Kaalaas of Rein Fire Ranch Productions, and the NX volunteers, it raises money for Lambert House, a resource center for GLBT youth. Various social gatherings â beach parties, dances, a boat cruise and other events â allow attendees to enjoy one of the most beautiful places in the country at a particularly beautiful time of year.

Since its inception in 2000, Northern Xposure Weekend has raised more than $75,000 for Lambert House. Because of this amazing effort by a generous group of friends, Lambert House has kept its doors open to the gay youth of today, helping to shape those who will be gay leaders tomorrow.

Begun primarily as a social gathering at Rein Fire Ranch, the weekendâs series of events has changed over the years, but its purpose â enjoying the company of friends while helping Lambert House â remains the same.
Retooled in 2004, NX took the form of a one-night collaborative effort with CastroBear Presents, and fabled DJ John LePage brought SWEAT to Seattle in a whole new way. The following year, taking it Off the Farm, and into the Big City, NX moved onto the calendar of Seattle-wide gay events, and again helped publicize the important work of Lambert House. A year later, under the Viking-themed banner of You Can't Pillage The Willing -- CastroBear Presents, BigMuscle.com, and others teamed with Rich to present the spinning talents of Kimberly S, Blaine Soileau, John Millier, DJ Funky Bear, and the DJ debut performance of Sam Andrews.

SLAM History
A Slam is a competition of performance poets that is judged by randomly picked members of the audience. The focus is equally split between the content/writing of the poem AND how the poem is performed. This opens up the stage to a wide range of work and engages the audience as active participants. Because of its format of inclusiveness, Slam has been referred to as the âDemocratization of Poetryâ.

Daemond Arrindell is the Slammaster for Seattle and five-time coach for the Seattle National Slam team. The man whoâs been pulling the levers behind the curtains of the great and powerful Seattle Slam for 4 years. He is a Poet, organizer, activist and all around nice guy.

Daemond is in this for the love of the word: written and spoken, and its power to alter the emotional state of being. Currently, he is heading up a Spoken-Word residency at the menâs correctional facility in Monroe, Wa, is a faculty member of Freehold Theatre/Studio lab teaching performance poetry and spoken word and is Seattle Poetry Slamâs nominee for Poet Populist.

Karen Finneyfrock - published poet, former Slammaster of the Seattle Poetry Slam, teacher andcommunity organizer. Karen has rocked stages from both behind the scenes and in front of the mike. Karen began her love affair with spoken word as a member of the â99 Washington, D.C. National Slam Team. After moving to Seattle in 2001 she became a recurring feature at the Seattle Poetry Festival; toured West Coast colleges with Word Core (Buddy Wakefield, Eitan Kadosh and Gregory Hischak); wrote and performed parts in C.R. Averyâs hip hop opera to crowds in San Francisco, Seattle and Vancouver, B.C.; and has been a featured performer at poetry venues all across the country including the National Poetry Slam, Louder Arts/Bar 13 (NY), Berkeley Poetry Slam (CA), and The Naropa Institute (CO).

Jodie Knowles - actress, make up artist, hair stylist, poet and host - Jodie can do it all. In her first year of slam competition, Jodie earned a spot on the Grand Slam stage and won over the the crowd with heart, sincerity and her own personal truths. She extends the same to all the poets who touch the stage at the Seattle Slam. Jodie has recently become a board member of the Bent Writing Institute.
