Alejandro Escovedo's first new album in six years is a triumph. That it comes after his near-fatal struggle with and recovery from the effects of Hepatitis C only underscores that fact. He was born in San Antonio, Texas, where his multicultural heritage is an underlying factor found within his music. His songs can range from full force rock'n'roll to the subtle delicacy heard from a string quartet, sometimes in the same song. WoodSongs is proud to welcome back this acclaimed singer/songwriter and his band for a one hour Special Event broadcast devoted entirely to Alejandro and his new CD, "The Boxing Mirror." Performed in Lexington Kentucky.

INDIGENOUS was formed by guitarist, singer, and songwriter Mato Nanjii with his two brothers and sister back in the 90's. The little family band from the Nakota Tribe of South Dakota never expected the incredible, widespread reception they got from the blues and rock communities. They will be making its WoodSongs debut to promote their latest CD "Chasing the Sun" with a striped down, acoustic performance. DAYNA KURTZ returns to WoodSongs to perform material from stunning new album, "Another Black Feather." She maintains an enthusiastic fan base that's embraced the passion of her songwriting and her voice: an unforgettable, distinctly husky instrument that's capable of immense depth and sensitivity.

The headlines call him a renaissance bluesman, and an artist who defies the rural blues myth. Whatever you call him, he is 100% pure blues. Guy, and his unique style of acoustic blues, returns to WoodSongs to perform material from his latest CD "Skunkmello." CHATHAM COUNTY LINE fuse old-time, gather-around-the-microphone bluegrass with a love for John Hartford, The Band and traditional American music. The band draws inspiration from the true spirit of bluegrass and folks like Bill Monroe, Earl Scruggs and Doc Watson.

Grammy-winning New Orleans musician and actor Chris Thomas King, who lost his Uptown New Orleans home and studio to Katrina did what any blues artist would do, he wrote a song about it asking the question “What Would Jesus Do?” He wrote and recorded the song which leads off his new inspired CD “Rise” only days after the levees broke, but Chris Thomas King is no stranger to the blues.
